The Loobenfeld Decay 1x10
For this episode I believe they both didn't want to go, but it was leonard that lied about the both of them having other plans. Sheldon has problems with the original lie and spins this complex story about a drug addict cousin, Leopold. Big Grin
Yes Leopold was great! Sheldon creates a life, a back story, researches psychological issues, and drug addiction/interventions, a whole universe, just to cover a simple lie(he even tailors it to Penny. Knowing that she wil be sympathetic, as her own brother has similar issues). But Leopold runs with it, expands and makes it believable(watch your spelling everyone, I hear the Major has opened a gulag,'I pressed the wrong key, honest sir'!). I know all about OCD, (and in my family lying was a worse crime, than any offence I could have tried to cover up). But I wonder why it's such a big deal to Sheldon; Mary's born again morality?, or is it an OCD 'everthing in it's right place', control thing! Or am I overthinking this, and it just made a good story. Where's that gulag?

Probably a little of everything. No matter what you say personally as an adult, growing up in a very religious house will still have you flinch mentally when you do something wrong. Add that to the OCD of everything needing to be planned for in advance. It was a great episode and Sheldon was perfect
I've often thought it would be great to offer Sheldon/Jim honorary Brit citizenship. I think he'd like it here. It's relatively safe, few have guns. We're pedantically trying to stop our language/grammar/punctuation from being barbarised. Heck, we're just pedantic! We value eccentric intellectuals, and it would be cool if Jim had a second home here. Sorry can't stop laughing at this clip!!!

I am not English, but I feel the same, pilot fish! I have said it before that Jim, both his appearance and his acting style, very much reminds me of many good English actors, that have theater training as well. I agree that the English are great storytellers and also have a way of handling the eccentric characters in their stories. It must come from their culture. Jim should move to England and do theater, TV series, films and audio books there! Oh, yeah! lol!

Moonbase

There was definitely a touch of the English gent once.

My favourite will always be the Drake equation.

That's a great idea. Jim doing theatre in UK. Quite a few famous people move here, to escape rabid fans. He's always welcome!

I assume Sheldon's subplot with a bird was supposed to reference Nikola T, anyway. (Now, there was a lunatic genius who altered the world.)

Making me realise that if the writers had a darker, more twisted streak to them, they could have pulled off some strange mental episodes (Think the bit in Community when Abed starts seeing everyone as claymation and they're all concerned?) that were unsettlingly funny rather than ooc and cutesy, e.g. the cat-binge from season 4. I would've liked to have seen Sheldon lock himself in his room, don a tinfoil cap and stay there for half a season, growing a mysteriously neat spock-beard while everyone worries about him...

I was a fan of the Sheldon goatee, however short its appearance was Tongue
