Having looked up 'anvilicious' means. Don't get me started on the mother/son relationship!

That scene is so true, for anyone whose parents aren't technology savvy...
A solid hour of Howard & Raj goodness from S1/S2. (more like all of the guys, really.)

I'll just watch this and forget about Season Hate...I mean, Season Eight. (Haight?)
[Image: IWL2.png] That yellow shirt seems to be popular! I knew they'd got the disembodied mother idea from psycho. Only instead of Norman shrieking , it's BR and LW! Howard actually rented the apartment above Sheldon. But his mother played guilt/abandon mother card. But after he went to space, she'd found a lover within a week(don't think about that last bit). Parents!
Not to rain on your parade, but that's awfully big for such an ugly/scary picture, Ricardo. I don't know if there's something similar to an LJ-cut here, but if there is...I'd suggest it.
I thought that actually happened???? Any way I'm a PhD! (still hate that joke, and the PMS jokes(aren't they sexist yet!))

Cute hugs from back when this show contained friendships:

Curly-haired mute Raj, accept no substitutes:

I am getting tired of people referring to (early) Howard as a pervert. Exactly how is he a pervert? He doesn't have any bizarre fetishes that we're aware of. A young guy in his twenties is horny and likes women? Wow, shocking. And even if he did have some strange and unusual ideas/fetishes/interests (which, as far as we know, he doesn't) that still wouldn't be much of an issue, provided that he wasn't harming himself or violating other people's rights and safety.

He's overly blunt in his approach, but that doesn't make someone a pervert. "Pervert" implies that you're into things which are really vile and abnormal and probably harmful, not that you're just overly-focused on sex and unsubtle in your approach.

The word perversion literally means something that has been altered from its original course or its original state of being. A man being attracted to women is not a perversion under any definition; whether the way he expresses that attraction is distasteful or counterproductive, is not the point.

Whether his sexual behavior is rather crude, inappropriate, or over-eager is a separate issue. "Perversion" implies that one's desires are abnormal, twisted, unhealthy, harmful.

Whether his *behavior* is offensive is a fair enough argument with valid points on both sides, but it's pretty clear that his desires and intentions aren't malicious or harmful.

I've always believed that H. is only *saying* what Leonard and Raj are *thinking.* He has no filter, so he just verbalizes whatever pops into his head, without first assessing whether it's an appropriate thing to say, or not.

I've found that people are very irony-impaired, in terms of Howard. That is the key to why so many people misunderstand his character. The entire point is that he's not as sexually bold/aggressive/adventurous as he pretends to be, and nowhere near as promiscuous as he'd like to be. **That's the joke, folks.** That is the joke.

Irony: Learn it. Know it.

On that note, a statement like "TPTB have perverted this show" would be one hundred percent correct, because the word means something that has deviated from its proper course and become distorted...

It also bugs me that I even have to use words like "vintage", "classic" or "early", in order to even be able to talk about these characters we love...
[Image: raj-and-howard-looking-at-pennys-butt-bi...heory1.jpg] Yes I suppose you could say that Howard is at least being honest. Leonard is very devious at getting what he wants, and has no loyalty to anyone, bast**d! Something the show explores(for comedy purposes) is the relationship between the characters and their parents. I have known men who carried on living with their mothers too long. They are like pudgy adolescents; they act like adolescents towards women. Going straight to another woman doesn't help, they do need to break free, become independent, and grow. Even Penny needs to break free of her father; counselling not alcohol. Not another man like her father either(because that relationship will mirror the former). Actually I think once people reach eighteen, they need to draw a boundary, and stand up to their meddling parents!

The point I'm making is, he's not a pervert. "Pervert" implies one has desires that are very abnormal and harmful. One could argue that the way he talks to women is offensive, but his intentions are very simple and straightforward. Even his fantasies are sort of naive and cute. To me, "pervert" would imply that one's desires have an element of something violent or illegal, like pursuing underage girls, for example. It's not like H is going up to 13-year-olds and exposing himself, or grabbing/groping people.

I'm not saying I want 8 seasons of H. making a pass at Penny. Those moments are actually kind of cringey. But the "overly sexual Howard" jokes had already tapered off a bit by the end of S2, and that's long before Bernadette. They should've maintained him at that level.

And I, personally, would not give a crap about any of the "shocking revelations" mentioned in SNC, nor would I be upset like B.
