I can't be bothered to check if we've had this one, but it's a goody! [Image: sheldon.gif]

It's Halo night.

Sheldon darting his eyes around when he's talking to Penny is too funny.

I like the little step back and averted eyes at implied upcoming "problem". My cat used to think if it moved very slowly across the floor whilst avoiding eye contact that we couldn't see it. Vaguely similar logic at work. Mind you, Flick also used to get caught between the screen door and the wooden door, so it might just be stupidity on Flick's part.

Parsons' acting as early (S1) Sheldon is so subtle. Quite mesmerizing. Although I do enjoy the more theatrical S3 & S4 equally.

Season 5 is pure panto...or something. I don't understand Parsons' acting choices in S5. Possibly it's the writing. I just know there's something of a difference between;

[Image: Sheldon-the-big-bang-theory-15250115-400-226.gif]
and;

I'm sure it's all adorable to some people (and that last looks like Jim cracking up), but it bothers the hell out of me. In addition to being like a big mad baby in Season 5, he's also malicious and spiteful. And a loudmouth.
Season 6 he was in a semi-permanent state of sulkage or boredom, and Season 7 schizophrenically switched between Vintage Sheldon and some sort of unrecognisable Rom-Com 101 import.

Vintage Sheldon had moments of demented glee, but they were few and far between, and somehow charming rather than obnoxious.
Chief examples being;

There is something exquisitely RESTRAINED about Vintage Sheldon. Parsons deserves his small mountain of awards just for this character alone. Like Toad said, we like to think they're awarding him retrospectively.

Grumble over.

Yeah, I'm no expert, but I feel like very-early-Sheldon, like before the Writer's Strike of 2007, is a bit more relaxed and pragmatic...

Quote:"Like Toad said, we like to think they're awarding him retrospectively. "

I was just thinking yesterday, that if Simon Helberg finally gets an Emmy, but they give it to him on the basis of one of these sugary "Howie loves Bernie" eps, they'll be missing the point, but viewers like us will understand that it's more of a series-spanning award.

Parsons has manifold silent film comedian talents, his postures and general body language, but also so many of his expressions are amusing in and of themselves...This thread is a wonderful and disturbing collation. Keep adding to it.

This bastard's too big to post, but I like it immensely.

From the dreaded later seasons...I like to think this scene is the true Sheldon trying to reappear, like when an alien entity has invaded the consciousness of a host, but the host keeps struggling to regain control, or like John Malkovich trying to regain control of John Malkovich...

Body language, folks, body language. A distinct Shelbotian posture is assumed when befuddled or vaguely alarmed.
OH PLEASE...

This is my favorite part of The Cushion Saturation, that and him floating around trying to find a new, temporary spot.

Yes that's a great bit of physical comedy, cushion shuffling! I couldn't find a smaller clip. Sheldon goes into meltdown (at about 2.05mins)
