If anyone wants me to change the location of this thread, or just scrap it and post this idea in an already-existing thread, I certainly will.

Anywayyyy...I was thinking was could have a thread about post-Season-4 scenes/moments that we actually like, or are glad for the existence of.
(Wow, not grammatical.) Maybe you don't enjoy them in the same way that you'd enjoy an early-seasons scene, but something about them is significant. I'm thinking in terms of individual scenes/moments/concepts, moreso than episodes. Even most of S4 and large chunks of S3 are beyond the pale to me, personally, but there are still many nuggets I can enjoy, there.

Beyond S4, there aren't many fave moments, for me. I think I've barely watched a single frame of S6, S7, or S8.

These are the only ones that come to my mind:

S5 is wretchedness, but I like the Kissing Machine (IIRC this is 5.02.) It is very cute. I like it much better than the *actual* "accidental kiss" between H&R in Season 4, which I don't like at all, hardly. That scene--the Boyfriend Complexity one--is so contrived and cringey, and it kind of makes a mockery of the very idea that two guys would ever want to kiss each other. Love triangles are a personal squick of mine. Ironically enough, IMO the kissing machine seems much more natural and sincere, for something so un-natural, and it's funny, too.

As I've mentioned, I think Raj talking to Siri, and Howard peeling the plastic off Raj's new phone is adorable.

Howard using sign language with the deaf girl on Raj's behalf is very cute.

I also think SH/Howard had some very cute outfits and belt buckes in S4/S5, so I like seeing that.

43rd Peculiarity is not bad. (S6, and the last episode to date which has no A or B whatsoever.)

Other than that...yeah. I'm glad those scenes exist, and I'd be sad if they somehow went away, but they still don't make the existence of the later seasons worthwhile. I'd gladly sacrifice all of that, if the crappy stuff went along with it, into oblivion. S5 is the disastrous season which finished the dirty work begun by S4.

Clearly, I don't have much to contribute to this thread, myself, but I am curious to see where/when Sheldon Purists and Shennies have found trace elements of Vintage Sheldon, during the End Times™. (if you want.)

Your Definitive "Jump The Shark" Moments

I think we can all agree that TBBT has jumped not only one shark, but about forty, in a row. (You can jump multiple sharks, right?) But we might have different opinions as to where these jumps happened. Here's mine:

-Amy, obviously, and the key moment that made me realise SHE HAD TO GO was the girl's night episode and the *shudder* netheryaeia (No idea how you spell it)
-Sheldon asking Amy to be his girlfriend.
-Sheldon kissing Amy.
-Sheldon loving alcohol all of a sudden.
- Raj and Penny becoming alcoholics.
-Penny saying she loved Leonard. I was hoping this would never happen, and we'd instead have a bittersweet (euphoric) realisation from both sides that they aren't going to be a happy couple, but no. Of course characters can have a relationship and then just be friends afterwards. Countless shows have managed that. For God's sake writer's it's not that hard, if your heart isn't really in making Lenny work.
-Sheldon befriending Wil Wheaton.
-The whole episode where Sheldon needs his hair cut, marking the arrival of the new carelessness he's had since regarding routine.
- The season 4 Raj/Penny finale significantly drained both characters' charm.
- Sheldon being racist/sexist. The problem I had with this was that it happened in season 6, during which Sheldon was steadily becoming more and more self-aware, so it felt like he KNEW how racist/sexist he was being. This isn't true to Sheldon and it will be forever used by Sheldon-haters as proof that he is a massive wanker who mistreats his beaky, hobbling "angel" of a girlfriend.
- Raj: LATER LOSERS!

(I know these probably aren't technically "sharks", in that case it can just be a list of horrible moments in the show that correlate with its decline)

Also is anyone else getting sick of people saying the "geek" culture was an "unrepresented demographic" before TBBT? I think TBBT proved to be bad for "geek" culture in the long term, as it's become ubiquitous. I thought the definition of being a "geek" was unashamedly showing a love for obscure things regardless of prejudice. TBBT does not give out this message anymore, and cheapens the value of being a genuine "geek". The universe does not end with a bang, but with a whimper.

So just got done watching the latest episode of Mike & Molly and it was dealing with her going to therapy (funny episode btw). Anyway, it made me realize what a staple the therapy device is in a Chuck Lorre show. He's done it in Two and a Half Men, Mike & Molly, and his new show Mom, so why hasn't he used it in TBBT? I know they've said Raj has gone to therapy, but we've never seen it. Let's face it, this group of characters is desperately crying out for therapy, so why haven't we seen anyone go? Is it because he knows that these relationships are so broken, dysfunctional and down right creepy that even the hacks he calls writers could never make the audience buy that these relationships are great and healthy in a psychological setting?
