This is something we don't see much anymore, Sheldon being clever and using his eidetic memory WITHOUT being ridiculed.

"Those are map coordinates..." *closes eyes* "...got them, let's go!"

Sheldon in all his arrogant, detached scientific brilliance.

This could equally go on 'old married couple' thread!

(confession: I don't remember the names of any of the episodes, nor do I want to! Not how my mind works) Anyway I saw that episode, where Sheldon tries to get back at guys, for their halloween prank. At one point even he says, 'how can I be so stupid!' Well he's back to his old superior, homo intelligus, here!

You can actually *see* that he's opening his mouth wider and talking louder and drawling, in that second pic. Right?

The accent has made a real appearance over the last two seasons. I like a texan twang myself, it's kind of cute. but it doesn't fit as well with the character if he uses it all the time.

The twang is fine, it's the high, querulous tone that grates on me. He definitely used a deeper, slower cadence in the earlier seasons. Basically, he was a lot less manic overall. Bemused, sardonic observer of follies Sheldon was far more fun than the bewildered, childish asshole of now.

i see the twang and the higher voice as one more regression of Sheldon. He oviously is (mentally) back in Texas (pre puberty). Sheldon has lost all control of his life and has regressed to a time where things were safe and made more sense.

I now see Sheldon as a postmodern man; non specific sexuality, not conforming to male gender stereotypes(not obsessed by sex and money), his character is a manifestation of a fictional character(Spock), which has a virtual presence as Sheldor, he mixes science fiction with science, and references everything from literature to science concepts(his mind flits everywhere laterally), he plays with randomness(ref:The Diceman), and prefers to interact with technology. He explores mental differences, and dares to be unique. And then S3 e23 the writers impose a traditional paradigm. Sheldon is trapped in a traditional sitcom paradigm! Start the 'Free Sheldon' campaign!!!

Sir Edward Dyer:

"MY mind to me a kingdom is;
Such present joys therein I find,
That it excels all other bliss
That earth affords or grows by kind:
Though much I want that most would have,
Yet still my mind forbids to crave.

No princely pomp, no wealthy store,
No force to win the victory,
No wily wit to salve a sore,
No shape to feed a loving eye;
To none of these I yield as thrall;
For why? my mind doth serve for all.

I see how plenty surfeits oft,
And hasty climbers soon do fall;
I see that those which are aloft
Mishap doth threaten most of all:
They get with toil, they keep with fear:
Such cares my mind could never bear.

Content I live, this is my stay;
I seek no more than may suffice;
I press to bear no haughty sway;
Look, what I lack my mind supplies.
Lo, thus I triumph like a king,
Content with that my mind doth bring
."
