There is nothing wrong with crying during a comedy, to me it makes you feel like the characters are going through something "real". The fact that TBTB can't let a moment happen without a joke thrown in to negate any real feeling that was created is either lack of talent, laziness or stupidity.
To me funny is SO CLOSE to sad. I love it when comedies leave an emotional moment as it is without filling it with ba-dum-tish. Very rare though.
