I think he real problem is these writers don't know how to write a dramady. I consider M.A.S.H to be one of the best American comedy shows ever. The writers knew when to leave a dramatic moment alone and let you feel for the characters and what was happening. There is nothing wrong with crying during a comedy, to me it makes you feel like the characters are going through something "real". The fact that TBTB can't let a moment happen without a joke thrown in to negate any real feeling that was created is either lack of talent, laziness or stupidity.
