*sigh* I tried to tell my sister that we should skip this episode, but alas, she loves Sheldon too much even when he's being woefully abused. She did skip the SIK episode, because like me she finds Amy's manipulation to her dear Sheldon creepy and insulting, but she wants to see Sheldon threaten to break up with Amy even if nothing comes of it. If we're lucky we'll see a couple of minutes of the real Sheldon before everyone convinces him that Shamy Sheldon is better.

Sheldon seems to be trying to fight the brainwashing for a little while at least.

At a minimum, he acknowledges that he feels like Fowler has ulterior motives.

It's increasingly depressing to watch the show. Especially after watching the reruns that are on every night because the change is so noticeable. I still laugh out loud at the old shows while the new ones rarely even get a chuckle. All this current relationship "drama" isn't really drama because we all KNOW what the end result is going to be. Both Leonard and Amy will successfully manipulate their prey into giving up and all will live happily ever after. There is absolutely nothing unique about this show anymore. TPTB are just milking the cash cow until it dies.

It is sad watching the old show now. The new show has sucked most of the enjoyment out of the old. You watch the TADD episode and when it's over you think that was the highlight of the Shenny. Sad

Which is exactly why I choose to hear and read about the new episodes instead of watching the old seasons and feeling broken hearted once it's over knowing the dreadful outcome of it from later seasons. I'll probably start watching my seasons 1-4 DVD's once the show is fully concluded and pretend that seasons 4-10(?) never even existed. I don't remember why I even bought season 4 in the first place because that was when the bastard child that is Amy ruined everything for me.

Come and live in denial with me. Crocodiles are extra.

Yeah, I find it difficult to watch older episodes, knowing what is in store for the poor things. Cherry-pick the few favoured scenes, I guess, and try to mentally discard the rest.

I also like living in the earlier seasons because there was so much richness to the episodes. The characters and storylines are so limited these days that there's little inspiration to work with and considering I'm a rose-coloured glasses kinda gal when it comes to the show if I'm having problems finding positives to walk away with you know the show's in the crapper. Even though I like 4th season Amy even I'm aware of her later transformation and the detrimental impact it had not just on Sheldon but also as she reflects the overall warping of the show's trajectory. Or to quit beating around the bush--it just isn't funny anymore. When I catch new episodes it's more out of loyalty to the characters, not the writers, producers or even the actors. In a way I feel like a faithful bard watching the last exploits of the hero. The sad thing is that it isn't an epic death. The end of the show will be a mercy killing long overdue.
Let's go exploring!

THIS ^

It's not just Sheldon who's been lost but all the characters had funnier lines back then and the writers worked harder on the subplots. Almost every episode had one strong main story and (if they even bothered with a second plot) it was fully fleshed out and just as good.

They put so much care into what they were doing and there was a real sense of a writing team who were having fun with their creation. Now the show just seems like a ball and chain around their creative necks. They must enjoy the money but all this gushing over the 'sentimental' moments is just blatant lying because the product is poor compared to what we know they are capable of. They are singing the praises of something they no longer have love for because it's making them stinking rich. Anyone with an ounce of creativity can see this a mile off.

I feel the same way. I have to watch for Sheldon and sometimes Penny. I also want to see this fading glimmer of Sheldon noticing the reality of Fowler's manipulation above and beyond this shows ass kissing of her character.
