It bears mentioning, for any who didn't know, that "Soft Kitty" is not the brainchild of any of the writers. It was originally published as "Warm Kitty" (the original lyrics start out, Warm kitty, soft kitty...), and I don't think the lyricist, Edith Newlin, has ever been given credit on the show.
