Sheldon’s Pathological Obsession with Penny’s Nether-Regions

I thought that title was a mite more interesting than “Sheldon’s mildly inappropriate remarks”
Anyroad, this topic has sprung from a genuine bafflement of mine. Frequently and tirelessly the concept of Sheldon and Penny being either “sibling” or “maternal” in nature has been forced upon us by hysterical characters, like a nanny wielding a bar of laundry soap, to wash our mouths out for daring to suggest otherwise.
As a non-romantic Sheldonite, the fact that I think his comments are a trifle inappropriate for a sibling relationship, and rather suspect of the writers’ deliberate manipulation of the audience, to the point of cliched teasing, is rather telling. Because I generally don’t pick up on such things. Ergo, it must be quite obvious.

I have no siblings myself…Perhaps others can enlighten me on whether it’s normal to peek at your naked sister and discuss drinking milkshakes through your genitals…

I’m not saying the writers are suggesting a secret agenda, I’m saying the writers are not oblivious to such interpretations.

Here’s a few things I can think of off the top of my noggin;

“It won’t help my case if the judge is busy trying to read the word Juicy scrawled across your buttocks.”

Oh this is a great topic. There are sooo many innuendoes but shame on you all, and damn my eyes for seeing and hearing them. Sheldon is obsessed with Penny's sexual prowess.

What about when he went on his "first date" with Amy and spent the majority of the time figuring out how many sexual partners Penny had encountered? I always thought he had a rather huge obsession with Penny's sexuality considering he's like "a brother" to her.

Don't forget about him complimenting her (AGAIN) about the wet t-shirt contest she said she tried out in during her younger years in the bars around season 5 or 6.

When he accidentally grabbed her boob and then mentioned how he took a quick glance at her ass and in his defense said that the hero always peeks. I think he even mentioned them to be asymmetrical.

He tried to reassure her on having the body of an Amazon when she was in her Wonder Woman costume but she took it offensively and thought he was calling her 'fat' instead.

And when Penny pounced on him during the wrestling match during Couple's Night and she planted a few kisses across his face and he did nothing but demand for help.

When he commented on her changing her shampoo to coconut instead of green apple and rhetorically asking if she was a Hawaiian girl.

I have a step-brother of my own and if any of the above had occurred between us well then there'd be some serious therapy going on. I really doubt Sheldon would ever do any of those things with Missy or even Penny with her drug addict brother either.

ROFL. Damn. I really wonder what other Shenny innuendos they'll be sharing with us by the next season because I have this slight feeling that they do it on purpose. I believe Sheldon knows how attractive Penny is and drops little hints to let others know I guess. A lot of canons said that her being successful as a porn star was disgustingly offensive but coming from a semi-asexual guy like him that actually says a lot.

I believe some of such comments by Sheldon may indeed come from his social naivety as well as from his science-oriented and focused thought process, which make him unable to recognize that he is being inappropriate, or even flirty, in normal people's eyes. But I agree not all those comments can be explained by this, and many of his comments may very well be him actually flirting with Penny! Who knows!

Also, he asked her to a date. No matter what his motivation was (making Amy jealous or whatever), we all know that brothers don't ask their sisters to dates!

And let's not forget about about Penny. As Major Gripe's list shows, some of her comments to/about Sheldon are not that "sisterly" either!
