Oh, lord, yes. And Vintage Sheldon would have been a fan of Original Holmes, and probably been highly sniffy about the 'modern' versions. ('Elementary' would give him an aneurysm.) Also -
“I don't understand your fascination with this version of Holmes.” Sheldon grumbles. Penny grins at him.
“Let's see...tall, thin, pale, oddly sexy, madly brilliant and really bad at getting on with normal people?”
A pause.
“Oh.” Another, more thoughtful, pause. “...Penny, do you think I should get a new winter coat?”
(edit: I think his routines are/were a control mechanism, rather than a full-blown phobia. He self-soothed with them. The regression into childish assholery looks far more like a nervous breakdown of some kind.)
