The people who talk about and support "growth" and "change" when it comes to Sheldon are the people who never liked him for who he was. The still don't like him. They may tolerate him only if he becomes "normal", "humbled" and "put in his place". They would also love it if he get as little screen time as possible. Not surprisingly, they are mainly Leonard and Amy fans too. They never liked the early, more Sheldon-centric seasons and episodes and are now more than happy that things have changed the way they have. And this crowd is exactly the type of audience TPTB is - and will be - catering to.
So it's not just the gang who have never liked Sheldon for who he was but also some of the fans as well. Tuesday is right this new Sheldon is a little more of an asshole and childish than he ever was before. At least in the early seasons he was childlike and not inmature and would occasionally permit himself to be as humble as he could be to those he cared for.
Yes a woman can be one of the many catalysts on helping him become a better person but not the type of woman that Amy is representing. She's manipulative, rude, harsh, insensible, and abusive. How is a woman like THAT going to help Sheldon grow as a person? Or a person who acts the exact same way as Sheldon himself? Just because she wants him to engage in sex doesn't mean that it's going to change his attitude towards everyone or even her for that matter. Like Penny once told her "Sex doesn't make you an adult." But Amy thinks otherwise of course and is now doing all she can to get a tighter hold on Sheldon that way he could start putting more of an effort into their codependent just to shut her up by giving her what she wants.
Damn he was THIS close to calling it off with her but then got sidetracked once she mentioned how Leonard was being manipulative with him. Seriously what the hell happened to that eidetic memory of his?!
