Sheldon creates a life, a back story, researches psychological issues, and drug addiction/interventions, a whole universe, just to cover a simple lie(he even tailors it to Penny. Knowing that she wil be sympathetic, as her own brother has similar issues). But Leopold runs with it, expands and makes it believable(watch your spelling everyone, I hear the Major has opened a gulag,'I pressed the wrong key, honest sir'!). I know all about OCD, (and in my family lying was a worse crime, than any offence I could have tried to cover up). But I wonder why it's such a big deal to Sheldon; Mary's born again morality?, or is it an OCD 'everthing in it's right place', control thing! Or am I overthinking this, and it just made a good story. Where's that gulag?
Probably a little of everything. No matter what you say personally as an adult, growing up in a very religious house will still have you flinch mentally when you do something wrong. Add that to the OCD of everything needing to be planned for in advance. It was a great episode and Sheldon was perfect
