The most striking thing about Sheldon is he is not immoral. In fact, that article calling him a monster is quite ludicrous in my opinion. Morally and immorally play no part in his observations. He's a fictional and somewhat otherworldly creation, who tries to avoid humanity, not purposely set out to destroy it.
That line "when I rise to power, people who say that will be sterilised" is genius. I love it coming from Sheldon. It's funny because it's the word of a dictator, from a man who seems afraid of the world. He would do anything to steer clear of trouble, loud voices, changes to his routine. Sheldon is at far more risk from those around him, than anyone is of him.
I can see what you are driving at from the actors point of view. Sheldon says things no one would ever get away with. His charm, used to be, that he never intentionally tried to cause harm. He was protecting himself. Unfortunately, the new Sheldon doesn't seem that innocent anymore. Their attempts to humanise him have made him more of a monster. Perhaps, monster is still too strong a word, an annoying jerk. I never really saw him as a bad person in the early days. He was kind of an antihero.
