That was remarkably touching. Yeah, I think the demise of this little red car signifies many things, none of them good. Penny's entire life is becoming beige, frankly - a dull, conformist existence. The show won't be happy until it has given her the full Stepford treatment and crushed her into a Desperate Housewife.
Presumably, this is supposed to signify that she is becoming an adult, now, with a sensible grown-up car in a sensible grown-up colour, and she should be responsible and settle down.
I say she should get a little flame-red sports car, kidnap Sheldon and flee for the hills.
