The number of times a villain captures his nemesis (the hero) and instead of swiftly dispatching him to another realm, starts on a whole spiel about his "plan", and how he did it, and gives intricate, sensitive details about what he's going to do next, before leaving the hero to die in a flamboyant but flimsily constructed "death machine" which he can easily escape from...

Loki does a lot of talking, and is very flamboyant, but he knows when to piss off as well.

I'm not going to comment on that last one.

It's all very illuminating, jumping between fandoms. Coming from one (COUGH TBBT COUGH) which started out very innocently, and then turned into a manipulative, dream-deadening tale of self-loathing, character destruction and conformism, which yet cloaks itself in saccharine, to one which quite blatantly revels in various levels of sexual ambiguity, pseudo-incest, sado-masochism, planet destroying and general villainry, without making any apologies whatsoever, and with a considerable sense of humour, is quite refreshing.

Nonetheless, I plan to stick to the films solely in this instance. Bloody ship wars and literal-minded canon idiocy has put me off fandoms for life.

Exceptions will be made for stupid inter-fandom jokes, as usual.
(also because it's the only way to deal with Loki's situation without weeping like a big wimpy snotrag...THE POOR BASTARD!)
