Continuity?

Sheldon: You’re welcome. Good night to you, too. Oh, by the way, I was watching you sleep for a moment, and I noticed that your snoring seems to be worse when you’re on your back.

Penny: Leonard doesn’t snore.

Sheldon: No, I wasn’t talking to Leonard.

Leonard: Told you.

Ok, I was pretty angry. Fortunately I calmed myself. I read that Sheldon was compared to Tesla this episode? Really, I mean REALLY? New!Sheldon is nothing like the great Tesla, far from it. Hell, I know people from my local university who are closer to Tesla than this New!Sheldon ever will be. To be honest, it's a major insult to such a great scientist as Tesla to be compared with this current Sheldon noob.
Yes, in the early days there were a lot of similarities between those two. But those times are gone, for good. It's been YEARS since Sheldon could be considered as "one of the great minds". Now he is the sexy toddler with baby powder on him. Puke

Again, what an insult to Tesla! Angry

That's actually massively offensive, yes. I don't even think of Sheldumb as a scientist any more, let alone any kind of genius. Hell, he's barely a functional human being.

Sheldon was relatively normal in S1-3 compared to how he is now, even with his phobias and asexuality back then. There are plenty of other TV characters who have OCD /germ phobias or both. I was watching Monk the other day and it struck me just how Sheldonesque he was. Except every time that show threatened to 'cure' Monk, they found a way to return him to his core personality.

Sheldon wandering around clutching teddy bears over the last two seasons is beyond a joke and it drives home just how much the showrunner hates him. Leonard was SUPPOSED to be the star and Sheldon will keep paying for that. Too bad Leonard has only a fraction of the charisma. And the creepy girlfriend who is turned on by baby powder is just another kick in the proverbial.

Monk retreated into severe OCD as a response to the murder of his wife, I believe. Regression into obsessive behaviours as a coping response to trauma. Hmm...

Sheldon's early behaviours seemed to me to be more of a coping mechanism than genuine phobia - his actual backstory as originally presented had someone who had been accelerated academically to the detriment of his socialisation. Identifying with robots, aliens and solitary superheroes was all totally in keeping with a kid who didn't understand why he kept catching hell wherever he found himself, be it at home, school or around intellectual peers who were several years older than himself. He was trying to create a framework to live in. Sadly, he ended up with the worst possible bunco of people as social role models.

Now, he's just an idiot. This Sheldon is utterly unconvincing as someone who could gain academic credentials or employment. The less said about the Abomination foisted upon us all, the better. Innocence has tipped over in gormless stupidity, and the cheerful enthusiasm has become mawkish and infantile.

Agreed. I especially think pre-Writer's Strike of '07 Sheldon is a bit more approachable and down-to-earth, relatively speaking. He seems like a real person that you could actually meet; he's just a guy who happens to be VERY eccentric by nature; not an alien who is cut off from the normal activities of everyday life or has no understanding of social behavior. He is one of the guys; a human being just leading his life and doing whatever, he's not a tragic figure or a collection of jokes.

The promo photos are here for 8.10. I'll post a few...

Here's Penny looking beautiful.

The lads.

Kripke's in this one...

And finally... I just had to post this because at first glance I thought this was another picture of Sheldon and Kripke. Until I saw the glasses. My word she looks like a fellow.

Unfortunately the extremely Not-Fun with flags is back. This time Sheldon is in drag Huh Fun with Flags is so dire, I can't believe the writers see this as a suitable replacement for something like Mystic Warloads or Secret Agent Laser Obstacle Chess.

News flash!!! According to the promo this will be the LAST Fun with Flags YAHHHHH!

http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/11/the-big...e-810.html

The promo is slightly more entertaining than any of the FWF scenes ever were, aside from the one where Sheldon flirts with Penny. If you brave the Shamy promo above you'll notice he says how many FWF videos they made and he mentions there would have been 1 more if Amy had pressed play. Yet in the video below he talks about ANOTHER unaired FWF video. (we need an icon for inconsistencies, or OCC).

It only gets funny when Penny joins him.

I have no idea what they're thinking with FWF, PJ. When I wrote one or two episodes of it for a story of mine I had to put in jokes that were meant to be awkward. I felt like I was embarrassing my characters but as it was canon I did my best to mitigate the damage. But still, to actually give repeated air time to this stuff is just baffling.
Let's go exploring!

To me WPP is so minor league. Makes Sheldon and Amy look even worse and a bigger mismatch.
