I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but can you guys remember Sheldon saying "Geology is not a real science!".

Ach no, it's evidently an ongoing joke.
He's been kvetching about Geology and Geologists since the Pants Alternative...

"Dr. Randall from the Geology Department, only man who’s happy when they take his work for granite. Ba-da cha! I kid the geologists, of course, but it’s only because I have no respect for the field."

He also has a carp in the Luminous Fish episode...(did you see what I did there? Carp? Eh?)

Sheldon: At the last department party, Dr Finkleday cornered me and talked about spelunking for 45 minutes.
Leonard: Yes, I was there.
Sheldon: You know what’s interesting about caves, Leonard?
Leonard: What?
Sheldon: Nothing.

There's also "Dear god not the dirt people!", and as everyone has mentioned "Geology isn't a real science!" where he sacrifices himself in HISTRIONIC PAINTBALL DEATH..


I presume the joke is that this is Sheldon's version of going to the dogs...Sleeping with a Geology textbook means he's hit rock bottom...
