I agree with your favorite seasons list except I would flip seasons six and five. In my estimation season six can only be safely talked about in a therapist's office. It's when the flood gates opened and characters went positively whacko and the writing was abysmal and things were being rewritten faster than I could remember the original bits and, and, *huffs in a paper bag to calm breathing*
It's the season where by the end of it I had firmly established myself as a nostalgic--and a grumpy one to boot. I mean my last story took something ridiculous like 18 chapters to get Penny out of the mess the canon had her in, socially and psychologically. That a relatively 'rose-coloured glasses' kinda writer like myself couldn't overlook the damage season six caused is sign enough that something was definitely off-kilter. I mean I found positives to season five for goodness sake so it's not like I was asking for the world!
Essentially it was the season that, by the end of it, I couldn't recognize a soul on the program--or the program itself to be honest.
