I prefer vintage hat fights, more absurd. I suppose I think that if I ask a few difficult questions myself(and get feedback on here), about the way we see changes(growth is a difficult one, like you say, because, who is to judge) in characters. So I think the characters were all changing, dependant on who they were interacting with, and events in their lives(just Sheldon has been through many events that would change his perspective; failures at work, robbery, sister gave birth,trip to Arctic,etc) . Peers have a great effect on each other, essentially socialising and normalising. Enter a relationship, and it's like two personalities overlapping each other. Get married, have children, change is inevitable, and monumental. But behind the show, what is going on in the writing room. Is Sheldon being dumbed down to make him acceptable to wider audience, or is it part of the plot, to diminish him, in order to make Leonard the hero they originally wanted. I find it interesting that no one person writes for Sheldon, it may be shared between several writers, several of whom may also be writing for Amy. ie: no one is wholly responsible for the integrity of a character. Truth is they're all ludicrously rich, and couldn't give a ****. Also wealth separates people from real life, which is where they'd find their 'edge'.
