The only thing I didn't agree with from IMs great post was Gilda being vaguely bisexual. She's far too desparate to bag a man to be bi. But that's neither here nor there, the rest is a eye-opener.
They couldn't sell this test show, by all accounts the network hated it. Now Lorre has them paying millions to produce it. The show is simply coasting now, it's become a familiar habit amongst the US public, so they have guaranteed viewers because so many people stick with shows long after they stop enjoying them as much.
The original unaired pilot was produced on May 1st 2006. After the network rejected it they went back and re-penned it and almost a year later another pilot was produced on, March 3rd 2007. This one is almost identical to the pilot we know, but with slightly different gags. And the biggest change is Sheldon, he's totally there and killing it!
