I believe they chose "The Comic Book Store Regeneration" (although that also had a couple of rare Sheldon/Penny scenes in it), and Graduation.

Very polite PJ. From what I've seen, the general consensus was that that Season 8 was terrible. Sheldon has become too normal and the show has become a rom com, are the two most common complaints I've seen.
The individual lines are clever and amusing, and there were some excellent scenes I'm sure, but Sheldon's nature (and Jim's delivery and mannerisms) has been altered so wildly since Season 1- 4, that it's barely the same character. And Sheldon carries the show. If he's "faulty" then the whole mechanism collapses.
Aside from an unrecognisable buffoonish boyfriend Sheldon, Season 8 was dominated by (sh)Amy (I'm not surprised MB was nominated, considering it's pretty much her character's show now) and extended couples melodrama, with precious few science/geek based episodes in between.
If they weren't nominated this year, it wasn't because of the episodes they chose. Comic Book was one of the best.
It's because they broke faith with their original conception.
It's just like any other rom com now. I'd say take away Sheldon and it becomes "Friends", but they've already taken away Sheldon...
I don't understand how Lorre (who is witty, cynical, sharp, philosophical...as certainly are some of the writers) can allow the show to wallow and suffocate in these awful, mawkish romances.
