Don't worry about the length of your post, quite a few of us have been known to ramble about our feeling on how this once beloved show has been destroyed for no reason.
For the most part I agree with everything you said, with small exception that I always felt Vintage Sheldon was more childlike not childish (minus of course when he was sick)
. He was able to function without people helping him (when he had to) and had a innocence and delighted wonder for what he considered important in his life.
