RE: 7.16 The Table Polarization - Tuesday Pajamas - 02-25-2014 I'M SO FURIOUS! The writers of this show are complete haters! Amazing over how much hatred and humiliation they place upon Sheldon, Penny, Raj, and even poor Stuart:/ RE: 7.16 The Table Polarization - FranEssi - 02-25-2014 (02-25-2014, 05:38 PM)Jislane35 Wrote: This episode is more proof over how BOTH Leonard and Amy are passive aggressive, emotionally abusive, and manipulative bastards. Exactly. Passive-aggressiveness, using reverse psychology, constantly reminding him that he is annoying and an inconvenience, not listening to his side, always telling him he is the one in the wrong and blaming him for all the problems in his relationships, treating him like a child and a pet on occasion too, and now even telling him he didn't have a personality? This is abuse, manipulation and Gaslighting at its finest. Sheldon needs to get as far away from these people as possible. RE: 7.16 The Table Polarization - Tuesday Pajamas - 02-25-2014 My teeth are gnashing, posted something on tumblr. That really was an all time low blow! RE: 7.16 The Table Polarization - Idle Miscreant - 02-25-2014 Aye, big talk from Leonard there. A man with all the personality of a boiled potato. Indeed but this is just more propping up of Amy and Shamy. Such blatant rot. RE: 7.16 The Table Polarization - Berliner - 02-25-2014 It just can't get any more ridiculous. Sheldon of all people had no personality prior to Amy? So the fans watched the show because Leonard was so superbly entertaining? Sure, sure... Man, I really don't know what TPTB are smoking. Must be some crazy strong pot, which apparently they are not handling very well. So the fans watched the show because Leonard was so superbly entertaining? Sure, sure... Ugh. On one level it's just a typical sitcom throwaway line. Typically for the show that TBBT has become it's a depressingly mean spirited (and stupid) thing for one character to utter at the expense of another. On a deeper and more disquieting level though it's a particularly egregious example of revisionism or negationism - trying to sell the premise that Sheldon was NOT the self-sufficient, perfectly content, and powerful, albeit strikingly unconventional, individual we saw in Seasons 1-3. Quirky and unconventional is now being redefined as incomplete; ergo Amy completes Sheldon. I don't know about you guys but I didn't become besotted with Sheldon because he was a character that liked some shows. RE: 7.16 The Table Polarization - SpaceAnJL - 02-25-2014 I actually found that Sheldon's enthusiasm about shows, comics etc made him more relatable for me, personally. I wouldn't know a Manolo Blahnik if someone poked me with one, and have only a dim conception of most mainstream popular culture. But I can be very fervent on the subject of Joss Whedon or Harry Potter. Sheldon was one of Us, and they have not only taken that away from him and us by extension, it is now being made clear that fandom is something weird to be mocked and distanced from. ...maybe Sheldon's 'Fun With Flags' is a covert cry for help. He's semaphoring a distress signal out over YouTube, and waiting for rescue. *blinks* That could work. The show has no truck with continuity, and will happily rewrite events to accommodate the latest groupthink. Things like the Nimoy Napkin are being overwritten, and I dread to think how they'd revamp the Adhesive Ducks. Except this Sheldon clearly can't be trusted to operate a damn pedal-car, let alone a proper vehicle.
