Anyone in Pasadena, or even relatively close must attend this on pain of extreme antagonism by Gripe. It looks marvelous! RE: Buster Bloody Keaton - Idle Miscreant - 08-21-2014 I remember French was a bit unhappy he wasn't young enough to play Keaton in his frenetic heyday, as he most certainly could have done during the 3rd Rock years, but was solaced that at least he could play the middle-aged, wiser Keaton. Although, French pulls off a few stunts quite well eh? Ta for that Toad, I hadn't seen any promos. RE: Buster Bloody Keaton - Toad - 08-25-2014 From Keaton's imdb biography... In 1928, he reluctantly signed with MGM after his contract with independent producer Joseph M. Schenck expired. MGM quickly began to enforce their rigid, mechanized style of film-making on Keaton, swamping him with gag-writers and scripts. He fought against it for a time, and the compromise was initially fruitful, his first film for MGM - The Cameraman (1928) - being one of his finest. But with his creativity becoming increasingly stifled, he began to drink excessively, despondent at having to perform material that was beneath him. Ironically, his films around 1930 were his most successful to date in terms of box-office, which confirmed to MGM that their formula was right. Sound familiar? RE: Buster Bloody Keaton - Toad - 08-30-2014 This looks bloody amazing! And, yes, Morris Lessmore has been modeled on Keaton. IMDB page for The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore And after laboriously copying and pasting all these screencaps I discover that the entire thing has been uploaded to YT. Of course.
