Jane Kaczmarek Set To Guest Star On The Big Bang Theory

The comedic actress will appear in the episode entitled "The Sales Call Sublimation," which is set to air in the new year. She will be playing Dr. Sarita Gallo, a psychiatrist Leonard meets when Penny, a pharmaceutical rep, makes a sales call.

Well this is disturbing considering the last time Leonard went with Penny to her job she was fired.

Penny better watch out that Leonard does not try to kiss the Dr.

I'd much rather see Leonard get fired. Now there's some comedy. Make Penny the responsible one.

What provokes my uncontainable ire though is when Sheldon is described by them, ruthlessly I might add, as "tender" "caring" and, hold onto your hats, "sweet". Urgh.

What an OUTRAGE! That such insipid, namby-pamby words be applied to one of the most iconically obdurate characters ever! Why there should be laws against defaming one such as he in so malicious a fashion. "Sweet"?! The HORROR!

Arming myself with my trusty golden stylus I set out to rectify this gross calumny in some small way. To that end I have reconciled it in the only way I know how, by admitting that it can NOT be reconciled. For there are TWO Sheldons, the latter of which has been christened Shel-done by one of our own.

This Shel-done IS an insipid, rumpled and rather boring fellow and indeed worthy of all such flimsy epithets. Amy can have him. May he live long and... Oops! Nevermind. Shel-done is done with Spock.

And now Sheldon, congenially aligned with adjectives of which we heartily approve...

Why is the show spoiling its public over the Shame sex? To try and get people to watch? To ensure the ratings?

I don't know why anyone would want to see Sheldon with that woman. Don't get it! I'm sure there are a lot of excited Shames out there but she does nothing for me. They are still such an oddly uncomfortable, camp, unrealistic mix. Very strange ship to enjoy in my opinion.

Perhaps it's really a warning to stay away.

RE: What fresh hell is this? - S9 - Idle Miscreant - 12-04-2015

Comedy is incredibly and notoriously hard to write, and intelligent comedic characters hardest of all. These are excellent and well established comedy writers, and I can understand if they simply ran out of dialogue for Sheldon. It's just a pity the show couldn't have ended there, and perhaps the same chaps could have written a different show with Blossom etc, without having to repurpose Sheldon to fit around her inclusion. The old uppity noble alien that made the show famous, has been replaced by Forrest Gump. Who was a lovely chap, but he already existed. What television DIDN'T have (and now only has in syndication) and needed was Vintage Sheldon.

If you were reading a long-running serial in a newspaper (back in the Dickensian Gaslamp era, obviously), and after 4 “books” published of say, 24 chapters each, the author took a short break, and returned with a 5th book, where the hero suddenly spoke differently, and thought differently, and behaved differently, and dressed differently, and moved differently – in short, was almost unrecognisable – and there was no explanation offered, I think you'd be justified in choosing to consider the further adventures of this new character to be a completely different story.

This is vaguely how I feel about Original Sheldon/S1-4 VS New Sheldon/S5-9. They're not the same character, so it's not the same show, and ergo, nothing that happens now is "canon" in respect to the first four years. They can retcon all they like, and paint as many eyelids on ewoks and install as many CGI dancers in Jabba's palace as they want, and make countless sequels, and introduce a cringey, polarising character with an irritating, needy personality and a triple-name, but HAN SHOT FIRST.

As for the Amy fans being excited, well good. I'm genuinely glad. Nice that SOMEONE in this benighted fandom is happy for a change. God knows we're all miserable bastards most of the time. Personally I find Shamy quite artificial and mawkish, but if you don't mind original Sheldon being obliterated, I'm sure it's charming.

As a Sheldon fan, however, this is not a situation I would wish to occur in ANY "ship" involving him. Whether with Penny (ideally) or with Leonard, or with some random woman, in NO universe would I want the bugger to turn up wearing a normal suit, with flowers, and give sex as a present (instead of because he wants to) whilst wearing an undershirt by bloody candlelight. Nor would I want heirloom engagement rings, Proms, date nights, hand-holding, romantic dinners and cuddly nonsense…It's like something out of daytime television! It's also about as unSheldon as you can get. So why any self-professed Sheldon/Amy fan likes it is beyond me...

I can only assume, as Toad said, and as indeed we've always said, that there are TWO Sheldons, and current fans prefer the second, romancy, normal one, and we ONLY like the first, alien one, and never the twain shall meet. It'd be like crossing the energy streams!

Anyroad, it's all been very interesting on an academic level. Although I say academic very loosely as it's half past an ungodly hour and I can barely spell my own face at the moment...

Have you noticed that the guys almost always fail at whatever they try to do these days?

Now that Shamy have done the deed, Moralo is saying the rest of the season will move away from them and focus on other characters. Another snooze-fest awaits. Leonard and Penny's marriage will have issues. But this actually means that Sheldon is being used to create a story around this flimsy couple, setting up his exit from 4A in the future. Howard and Bernadette will also be back in focus but does anyone care a hoot about them?

Here come let's blame Sheldon for everything. The Shamy's will not be happy with the focus off of them. Even SH and MR family could care less about Howardette.
