Gripe, THIS should be a Facebook comment. I would dare anyone to challenge it. 'Cos it speaks the absolute truth.

So when we discover in the final episode that most of what we've been watching for years has been the dream of a comatose Amy Farrah Fowler, in what state will we find everyone once she finally succumbs. And at what point after she met the crew did she get into that constantly rumored car accident that put her into said coma.

RE: What fresh hell is this? - S9 - Idle Miscreant - 11-19-2015

Would you like to see some ACTUAL Facebook comments about this? Other than the crowing that Sheldon's "FINALLY A NORMAL MAN" (spare us), most of the comments on Facebook are negative.

"Quit messing up my Sheldon!! Bad enough you gave him a girlfriend!! Sad!!"

"Just another example of how much they are ruining this show. They completely destroyed Sheldon and he's barely a shell of the same egotistical genius that he used to be. Now he just acts like a 5 year old. Horrible writing."

"Why does Sheldon need to change? If he dumped amy for the same reason she dumped him we would be saying don't pressure someone into something they don't want to or aren't ready for but cuz the guy got dumped he has to change?"

"I am so happy many people think like me: the funny of it is Sheldon's ''weirdnesses'' and being assexual. Turning him just another sex couple ruins his character. I am the one who is going to stop seeing it. It is a pity they are going to ruin the best show ever!"

"Shelly is so weird and interesting the way his character is.. adding sex will just destroy his character.. we dont want another Charlie sheen dramas"

"This really killed it. I miss Sheldon the way he used to be"

"Now the qestion is about who is goinc to get the first baby... the show is becoming a soapopera, Sheldon has been evolving too much and faster than anybody could do..."

"Liked it better when Shelly was just a loveable nerd, all of them for that matter. Why must Hollywood make sex the final moment"

"They are ruining this show. It used to be so good and now they are over developing the characters so we hardly recognize them as the ones we fell in love with. Maybe they should just end the show rather than ruin everything it was based and built on"

"
The show is ruined, since they focus more on the love relationships instead of the geekiness/ nerdiness that made this show so big."

"this show is progressively turning into a boring, tedious and mind-numbing version of how i met your mother. All the jokes are so predictable and it no longer has anything to do with its original characteristics, science and nerdiness."

"Good god end the shamy I hate the shamy. I hate TV's blossom. Sheldon doesn't need her. Remember how great the show was before her?"

"Well looks like I'm not watching TBBT anymore, if THAT is going to happen"

"Ew. Please. This picture of them kissing makes it look like that can't stand each other."

"big mistake! Truly, its jump the shark time!"

"Nooooo the magic of Sheldon is his lack of emotion and social awkwardness. I know people evolve but a big part of the show are the characters distinct personalities. They've already killed Penny. She's no longer funny. She dresses and acts like a mom"

"Wasn't this show supposed to be about nerdy guys? Seems like it's all romance garbage now."

"Does the idea of shamy having sex creep anyone else out????"

"So disappointed. The lack of sex is what set this show apart and made it so witty in the first few seasons. Now it will become like every other show on TV."

"No no no no! This is not Sheldon style!!!!! Cheesey"

"It is too bad that the show runner who helped drive this once terrific show off a cliff is now spoiling the only good season they've had in years."

"I think my time with TBBT is nearing its end. It was good to meet and spend time with you, people, but everything comes to an end, and sadly, you are not the same persons I liked so much. Good luck and goodbye!"

"Ah goddammit!"

"Just as the show started to be a bit funny again with this season, I realized that "Shamy" was the reason it was going all sour. Their relationship, I think, doesn't contribute anything to the show, but instead just dilutes it, and now that they're broken up, the show is funny again... save for the part where Sheldon is running around like an idiot with a ring trying to propose to her."

"The show went downhill when they decided to make the show a lot about sex. Seriously, I'd rather much have the old sheldon back, not this one. I predict the show lasting a couple more seasons before it ends. I use to love this show, not any more."

"I fear the end of this show may be coming soon. The old episodes before they all had significant others were so much better. I understand that shows must evolve and change but it's just not that funny anymore."

"anyone remember when this show used to be about geeky stuff? You know...when it used to be funny?"

"destroying sheldons character"

"Got to sex everything up - that means the writers have tapped out and this show is on the skids! Too bad; it was fun while it lasted!"

"And so they officially bring an end to the being we know as Sheldon Cooper. Sheldon was so much better when he was werid and didn't understand human feelings like love and sarcasm and stuff.. First few seasons that is."

"No,nope. Ruining it! I don't like that at all. Because then as a character he will change. People change after such an event. There's no reason for this change in the show. Sheldon is unique and is just Sheldon. That's why we love him"

"What a shame. While Amy was definitely hoping for sex, Sheldon has very clearly been written as asexual so far. Suddenly giving him a libido out of nowhere is poor character development and probably shows a lack of understanding of asexuality."

"I wouldn't be watching this at all if I hadn't watched it in the days when Sheldon was a real "special" character. He is just slightly nerdy now, getting less interesting by the episode. I suppose I am just clinging to it out of habit!"

"evolving Sheldon is the biggest mistake the writers have made. he was perfect before, no change needed."

"Considering Sheldon comes across as asexual and Amy pushes and pushes for more... that's kinda dubious consent realm"

"Yeah! Another supposedly asexual character FINALLY cured by heterosexist normativity!"

Etc.

RE: What fresh hell is this? - S9 - Idle Miscreant - 11-19-2015

Oddly, I don't have a problem with Sheldon having sex. I think it could have fitted in with his Vintage persona quite well. Provided it was swift, and vivid, and PENNY, or someone else who challenged him. And provided he got straight back to his work afterwards, and didn't moon around.

What I DO have a problem with is sex as a placation, or present, rather than out of an instinctive wish for it. He's trapped in a corner. And the fact that it's been held over his head for the past 5 years, and by a rather unpleasant woman. If he didn't want to have sex with Amy in the beginning, or anytime over the past 5 years, then in truth he would never want to. So this is unnatural and OOC. And the ordinariness of it offends me (although half of me is glad that at least they didn't make it vulgar). Even this ersatz version of Sheldon shouldn't be this bland.

And no, "spicing it up" by making it kinky or passionate in future won't work either. The S/A relationship has been altered so many times in sitcom experimentation that it has almost no consistency whatever, but it has ALWAYS been toddleresque and timid, and as such they shouldn't have brought sex into it in the first place.

Jousting or competitive sex between Vintage Sheldon and Penny, or Winkle, would have worked. Experimental sex between Martha (or Lalita, or even that mad bint Ramona) and Sheldon would have worked. But sacrificial sex under emotional pressure? NO NO NO NO NO NO....

Anyroad, they've written it that way, and the moving finger, having writ, moves on...

I just ponder what's going to come of this. The die-hard Sheldon fans have long been offended and alienated, but nobody cares about us, that's fine. But what of the teetering Nostalgics who might find this the last straw? What of the poor Shenny fans, who not only have to deal with the L/P marriage, and the S/A sex and reunion, but also get NO scenes at all between Sheldon and Penny?

This seems unusually cruel. The Shennies have been around since Season 1, episode 1. If I were the show's producers, I'd be inclined to reward them for their loyalty now and then. Was that one episode in Season 8 meant to be enough? Is the dream Shenny kiss (with Leonard present) all Sheldon and Penny fans can expect in Season 9?

Because that's the thing, it's not just a non-canon "ship", it's a lot of folk's favourite comedy duo. Just look at the top rated IMDb episodes. Or the polls.

There was apparently a scene in 9.11 where Sheldon went to Penny for advice. But Bernadette had to be there. Which changes the Sheldon/Penny dynamic. They never seem to let those two have any scenes alone together anymore. It comes across as a blatant attempt to obliterate the past.

This is very melancholy to contemplate... Undecided

RE: What fresh hell is this? - S9 - Kimk26 - 11-19-2015

Yes, it is glaringly obvious. First, having to share the scene with Bernadette. And then, the second time, happened offscreen. That is VERY weird. Even tptb are so spooked/threatened by Shenny that they MUST keep them chaperoned. My feeling..when they gave us the Shenny dream kiss, I gotta wonder if they were totally shocked/put off by the wild audience reaction, and since, are determined to not put the idea in the audience's head ever again.

And also, maybe they've been sure to keep them apart for these more intimate Shamy scenes because they're afraid that, even Shenny sitting together on a couch talking would out-heat/out-shine these seemingly crucial Shamy moments.

Either way, I think those bastards Prady and Molaro are just too damn stubborn to do the right thing. I think they're stubborn enough to see the thing go up in flames than admit they made a mistake and backtrack. This could ruin them, but they don't seem to care. Nor CBS, apparently. This is the mystery of the age, alright..

RE: What fresh hell is this? - S9 - devilbk - 11-19-2015

And what have we learned, children? We've learned that emotional blackmail always works. That neediness is next to Godliness. That dreams will always die and the sooner the better. Except for the aforementioned needy. And that one partner in every relationship has to surrender everything of themselves to the other..

The XXX-reunion of “Shamy” Morlock Sad

Yes, it is a Smash.

A Smash in the face of every viewer/fan who had follow the series because of the ( initial ) exceptionality of their characters , and the constellation of especially two of them.

I understand and agree all the reactions here. They have changed the two best characters of the show completely. The formerly straight Penny is now just only an ordinary wifey-figure without own dreams or goals anymore Angry . And Sheldon they have transformed to a love-sick terrier, without the genius from once. Angry
(I still have the suspicion that he-because of his lack of experience- cannot distinguish between deep friendship….-to Amy-….  and true love….-to Penny).

However, it is indeed a bitter blow for all purists and fans of the first seasons-like me.

But, well…..I 've been thinking long, and….are because of that really all possibilities for the “Shenny” gone? I remember that a lot of “Shennies” had the opinion, that Amy could be like a catalyst for the “Shenny.” What has now changed in this possibility?
There are one and a half season before us, and in this time a lot of things can happen. Do we knowing if the new relationship between Sheldon and Amy will work? Do we knowing if the marriage of Penny and Leonard will work? (If the producers have a last rest of sense for realism, then they do not allow it).

As if it written on this side, the reactions are most negative. In both cases-the “Shamy” and the “Lenny” Big Grin
Are really all probabilities that Penny and Sheldon could be endgame done?
Hmm, I think not. And because of that I think we should-after we have processed the shock-stand strong to our ship, looking to the future and not be discouraged.
………………………………………………………………………
Please excuse, my dear Purist-and “Shenny”-friends. This post is not  Sarcasm      I just want to give hope to you and myself, too.. Please do not be angry with me. That is my damn nature.

“Part of what’s wonderful and unique about [Sheldon] is he has chosen not to play in the relationship game either way — heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, any sexuality,” Lorre said. “He has said, ‘This is not for me. I’m a scientist. All I’m interested in is science and what George Lucas thinks.’ We’ve stumbled into creating a character who has chosen a lifestyle for himself that is unique. And I don’t see any reason to modify it."

Lorre says it’s unlikely questions surrounding Sheldon’s sexuality will ever be answered. “Why would we have to [brand him ever] if the character is so thoroughly focused on his work?” he argues. “If touching other human beings of any gender is irrelevant to him, why label the thing? Why can’t there be a third gender — male, female and Sheldon?”

“His entire focus is on the work that he’s doing — theoretical physics,” explains Lorre. “ ‘Alternate reality’ is another way of looking at it. Characters like Sheldon are drawn to an alternate reality that might be more comforting than the ones they live in. And why modify that? Why not let the character be that unique?"

Yes, why not, Chuck?
Dear fellow, what have you done...

We have a number of "brave" *cough* anonymous visitors to our ancillary sites who apparently see fit to point out our diminished mental and intellectual capacities and then to remind us that Sheldon and Amy belong together, presumably forever and ever, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health (yes, yes). What provokes my uncontainable ire though is when Sheldon is described by them, ruthlessly I might add, as "tender" "caring" and, hold onto your hats, "sweet". Urgh.

What an OUTRAGE! That such insipid, namby-pamby words be applied to one of the most iconically obdurate characters ever! Why there should be laws against defaming one such as he in so malicious a fashion. "Sweet"?! The HORROR!

Arming myself with my trusty golden stylus I set out to rectify this gross calumny in some small way. To that end I have reconciled it in the only way I know how, by admitting that it can NOT be reconciled. For there are TWO Sheldons, the latter of which has been christened Shel-done by one of our own.

This Shel-done IS an insipid, rumpled and rather boring fellow and indeed worthy of all such flimsy epithets. Amy can have him. May he live long and... Oops! Nevermind. Shel-done is done with Spock.

And now Sheldon, congenially aligned with adjectives of which we heartily approve...
