Wasted on Hoftstadter but then we know this... Tongue

I think it speaks to the power of a shitload of money and a regular job.
Well, yeah, I don't blame her for settling for a regular sizeable paycheck, or being a good little cheerleader for the show, but it's rather sad seeing that bit with her talking about getting books and working things out and using a computer confidently, and contrasting that with 'Penny', who probably has screwtop bottles for wine because she can't work out how the corkscrew works anymore.

maybe that was the goal. It seems infantilizing Penny And Sheldon is one of the top ways to put a stop to the chemistry.

That's very true and it's no wonder that they have very few scenes alone together for longer than a few minutes anymore in fact now that I think about it if they didn't find those two as a romantic pairing so threatening they would've already given them a bit of a chance by now. Instead they had to alter their behavior with one another from the early seasons and have them treat each other as if they were merely good acquaintances or getting to know one another for the first time all over again since Leonard and Amy have drifted them apart and because of that have forgotten just how unique their friendship once was. It's a pretty tragic tale...Undecided
The writers showed this season that Old Penny resurfaces when she is in the company of Sheldon, ALONE (and visa versa). Its like the fog of failure and disappointment lifts and Vintage Penny shines through.

Penny needs to get out on her own and figure herself out without having to deal with the backhanded complements from the group. Time to reevaluate, something is not working ::coughLEONARDcough:: and the heavy baggage needs to be dropped.

You're exactly right, she needs to leave the gang behind for a good few years. Yes she'll be lonely for a while but at least shed make some progress with herself which is better than not having any at all and forever feeling worthless amongst scientists and being mocked for having a simple life through the gang's eyes.

And if she then decides to rejoin with Sheldon in another city after getting her career under control then by all means I hope things will go well with them depending just how far deep he is with Amy and Leonard. Sheldon ALSO needs to let to of everything and leave Pasadena as well, start over in a new university but we all know how he is about homeostasis, keeping things in order and not doing any drastic changes which by now is the understatement of the year for him ever since that she-devil dropped into his life.

It's very far-fetched but in order for Sheldon to be free he needs to stop following Amy and Leonard and understand that he can live without them but I doubt it'd be the same without having Penny in his company, yes she brings disorder to his schedule but in a way that's what makes her so memorable to him and I doubt that Penny won't miss Sheldon at least a little bit he's pretty unforgettable and is too unique to find him in anyone else. Funny thing about those two is that whether they've had bad company on their life or not it's still hard to let them go.
I hate to be a debbie downer in the Penny Parade, but I was reading an interview with the infamous Steve Molaro and something about Penny just stood out for me:

THR: Last season we learned that Penny is a decent actress. What's in store for her professionally this season?

Molaro: She's actually a pretty good actress, but that doesn't mean she'll necessarily have a great career. I think it's pretty realistic. She's got a commercial, little things here and there, she's taking her acting classes, but realistically the odds of her being a superstar are not great. So there are no plans for her to breakout in some giant career at the moment.

It seem as though that even though it is acknowledged that Penny has potential, she aint going anywhere in her career this season. Its becoming more and more apparent that the Penny character is indeed just a prop for Leonard. If this was the intention from episode one, then why did the writers make her character so damn awesome? (back then of course, I don't know wtf this Penny is now)

I don't think its too late to turn it around. Her endeavors to make something of herself can still be written and still be funny. It was in the earlier seasons; why the sudden change?? Writing Penny into an actress with a recurring role somewhere has potential and can be comedically written. Or shoot, even with some type of steady employment with potential is good for me. She is in her late 20's for crying out loud, she needs to have a plan B.

That would be more realistic, Mr. Molaro Dodgy
