Shenny HQ

This is a thread to discuss the canon relationships in Season 10. How the canons function and how the writers their stories intertwine. Spoilers are allowed. Any canon relationship is allowed including Shenny friendship.

Amy showed some backbone against Sheldon in 10.04 and she didn't seem as creepy either. She has become the female Leonard, except more interesting. I've lost count how many times they have changed her though. There's been little continuity in any of the characters since they brought her in. They used to be defined and now they alter them, as and when the writers have a new idea to play out.

Early Amy:

"I'm prone to night terrors, so if I wake up kicking and screaming, don't panic. Just pin me down and stroke my hair and I'll be fine."


So how come she's all normal in this bedroom scene with Sheldon?



Possible answer:

They think its funnily to have Sheldon do EVERYTHING, to have every complaint, every flaw, every quirk, every problem as his. It's all on Sheldon because Jim can outact them all. Also if Sheldon was further grossed out by her night terrors and biting, then everyone would wonder what the hell he was thinking. I still don't like Shamy but I'm starting to appreciate Amy.

Penny also couldn't share a bed with Amy because:

"She bites!"

I honestly don't appreciate Amy... they're making her into a bully towards Sheldon and he has to back down at EVERY turn?? He never gets anyone to compromise for him... he's told what to do and what to say and he has to obey it. I think that's gross.

I hate that they are using Amy like that... I always have.

Maybe it's because I'm a Sheldon fan first and foremost... so Amy and her interactions with Sheldon simply anger me... her "not backing down" always comes across as her whining over dumb crap and bullying Sheldon.

I will agree on one of your points, they're changing her, and changing everyone around her... just to make Shamy work. I hate it.

All in all, the only way I can tolerate Amy is when she isn't near Sheldon/talking about him.

But that's just my opinion.

Also wanted to add, that's why the shenny interactions were/are always the best: no one was forcing anyone, bullying anyone... they are on equal footing. Even when Penny made Sheldon do something he didn't want to, it wasn't so ugly or forced... idk.

I just hate Amy I guess... nothing I can do about it.

Yeah, the only way I'd tolerate her is in a parallel existence where someone had removed my frontal lobe. She's vile on every level.

Continuity has always been appalling on this show. I see the showrunners as being the Strangers from 'Dark City', warping the world as they see fit, in an effort to make their special snowflakes palatable. (Note: this fails. Because you can gold-plate a turd, and douse it in perfume,but it is still at heart, a turd.)

Well, you know that it is my nature (and weakness) to express myself with the help of compparisons.

For a few years there was the speech of a remake of "Magnum P.I." for the cinema with a complete new cast. The producers asked Tom Selleck if he had interest in a cameo or a guest-appearance.
He rejected and I remember very well his justification. He said:

"It is always the same. They buy the name of a successful concept and change it so much that no one can recognizes it longer. And than they try to 'buy' some of the original-cast to give the fans a kind of legitimation."*

 I found this very honorable from Mister Selleck that he was unwilling to help to dismantle this figure. Therefore the character was too close to his heart.

But what I want to say, is that exactly THAT what Selleck rejected is now happening in the dramaturgy of "TBBT".  Penny and Sheldon were (are) THE pair of the show. No other constellation include this kind of trust, tenderness, ballance, understanding, affection and (also sexual) tension.**

That was and that is. The producers and writers are knowing that. (An they are also knowing that there are still many "Shenny"-shippers out there) So they have tried to change first Sheldon (took away his intelligence, his dignity,...ect.)  to favor this lousy "Shamy"-concept, and now they try to give it a kind of legitimation by using Penny(!)  to give Scheldon advices, regarding "Shamy".*

They "abuse" her character to create a quasi-justification for this whole pitiable dramaturgical relationship-nonsense.

Really!
Penny was such a wonderfull intelligent, nice, strong and independent girl  which was the perfect-romantic- pedant to Sheldon. Now she is a wify which makes silly dances with her "beloved" husband......a liar, cheater and saboteur. And the authors also implicate that she is proud that he has tricked her into the marriage. It is a shame.


Let us be honest.

Let us look to this "bed-picture".......... and imagine it would be Penny at Sheldons side. Would it not be what we wanted? That Penny and Sheldon would come closer in this way? Not only because their chemistry. Also because they were simply predestined.**

 If that would Penny and Sheldon up there, they would be still the same Penny and the same Sheldon. Grown, matured in their personalities with expanded horizons but still the same characters.

So, like the picture is, it pepresents very good the "Shamy"-relationship. She is a burdock, a tick. Also if they want to show her now in a different way, it can not erase how her character was introduced and how she was over years. Only to get nailed on Sheldons side, but as manipulative bossy person, so that -regarding to Sheldons character and the logic- the possibillity that he fell in love with was not gave from the beginning on.
 
(It is the same nonsense like the love-story between Padme and Annakin at "Star Wars". That she felt in love with him after he had confessed that he had killed a whole village of sand-people-including women and childs- was totally implausible and happened only because George Lucas had decided so. With no respect to the logic and the emotional credibility).

They show now what at the "Shenny" would be plausible. They try to make it believable by using Penny and to give the "Shamy" a "Shenny"-like "painting". But it will not work. Even the spaghetti-diner between Amy and Sheldon was a cheap copy from "The spaghetti..." And so all will be what they are trying. It is only a psychological trick to make you receptive to the "Shamy". Remember, the possibillity that Penny and Sheldon could became a couple is not death.


So please dont get weak! Stay strong!

For me, the canon-pairs will be never an alternative.

What can I say except a big fat THANK YOU! I am really flattered. Really.

When I think so, this "experiment" could be an occasion for the "Shenny".

Synopsis:


After this "dwell on trial" Leonard could insist that Sheldon should not come back, because he had his wife/trophy in his walls. But Sheldon insists to return to 4A because he do not like changes............... and he can not stand with Amy. And that Penny protest against such a will of Leonard,...and that by this way hidden emotions could come to the sureface. How mentioned, if someone of this two would disappear....I am sure the other one would not only be sad but really unhappy. Penny and Sheldon are too close that they could accept that.





How said,  it is only again such a thought in my "Shenny"-loaded brain.

The writers need to get their heads out of their butts and realize the greatness that they continue to ruin with each and every episode. Not to sound mean, but certain fans need to as well. I know that at this point hell has a better chance of freezing over first, but a girl can hope that things will get better one of these days, can't she?

Now they are pandering to the Shamy and Lenny fans, who just like happy domestic things (if their online posts are anything to go by), there's nowhere to go that will be interesting enough to keep Big Bang on the air. They must know this... surely its time for a shake up and Shenny would be the funniest way forward!

Give us Shenny!

All the Shamy talk about is coitus because S and A have only done the nasty once. Or they just seem to be waiting for Sheldon to be more demonstrative. Or to marry. All Lenny talk about is more air time for extremely dull content which can only interest them. The cards have all been dealt, they can fill some eps with the baby coming and maybe get a long drawn out Shamy engagement/marriage thing going but I don't have a clue what they can do with Lenny, except maybe to stand by the wayside guiding and playing observer to Shamy. Without Sheldon, Leonard is utterly forgettable. You never see articles online about HIS character because he's not made an impression. He could be anyone, played by any actor. Penny is the key.
