An appreciation thread for the oft overlooked epitome of despair, Stuart. (credits to Gripe for the title.)

Look at the joy on his face.

Raj: What did you put as the one word description of yourself?
Stuart: I put unobjectionable. But now I hear it out loud, it just seems like I'm being cocky.

Bless him.
OI! This is an upcoming feature article you fantastical bastard!
Actually, it would probably help if you all amassed a nice collection of quotes for us here, so I don't have to do all the legwork...
(Thinks)
Yes, carry on, carry on...I'LL BE BACK

Shit.

Feature article?

(Well I don't see how this thread and the article can't have the same name.)

I'll just dump a modest pile of quotes on here, shall I?

Stuart: I don't think I've ever felt so rejected. And I had a rescue dog that ran back to the pound.

Stuart: When I was a baby, my mother called me her little possum.
Raj: Are possums cute?
Stuart: Not at all.

Stuart: How about those guys on that bench over there? They look pathetic. Maybe we could talk to them.
Raj: That's a mirror.

Raj: Okay, let's try it again. But this time, pretend the girl you want to meet doesn't want to hurt you.
Stuart: I don't think I can give you that.

Jesus, I've just realised that I may be a bit of a Stuart myself.

I'm a bit annoyed that I can't find his quote about the cat that he feeds occasionally, which sometimes never shows up. It's heartbreaking.
Here's the little tragic exchange...

Penny: Ah. Cool. Got any fun plans?
Stuart: Oh, yeah. Big night tonight. Gonna share a can of tuna with the cat.
Penny: Oh, nice.
Stuart: Not even my cat. I just feed it. Some nights it doesn’t even show up.

He's like a fucking Beckett character...

Muttergrumble. Just mad that I didn't think of outsourcing first.

Mwah HA HA!

(I was going to post a gif, but this is funnier somehow...)

This is easily one of the strangest tableaus Big Bang has ever foisted upon the viewers;

But it spawned one of the best lines ever.

Sheldon: I had to leave. They were having fun wrong.

Moonbase

Stuart is one of my faves. I actually think the actor is wasted on the show.

He started out so well until they tried to make him Raj's sidekick. The problem was, Raj was always the sidekick, so Stuart was delegated to the 'sidekicks sidekick'. It was hideously twisted and not unbelievable. Stuart should have taken over the alpha position and Raj should have remained the sidekick to him.

His melancholy is almost profound. Whereas Raj's melancholy verges on the I-want-to-kill-him!

Yes, Stuart is an underrated character. A lot of people on the TBBT Site have said that he's just used as a plot device, but I don't think that's fair. I always laugh at his lines and I actually find him more endearing than Raj, the second most pessimistic guy on the show. I also think he and Raj could have been a better beta-double act had the writers put a bit more into that little plot point.

The unpleasant thing about Raj is that he REALLY lets things go to his head. Ever since Raj said "later losers!" when he got a date with Lucy after that speech to the guys in the Comic Book Store about how special they were or something like that I thought: Hm. He's a bit of a dick when things go his way. I don't like how the show is slowly making it's "sweet" characters, e.g. quiet Raj, unaware Sheldon etc. more and more purposely mean spirited. How can we extend sympathy to someone who is unsympathetic towards people who struggle just like they do?
In short, I do prefer current Stuart to current Raj.
I totally agree. There's something about the actor that shines through the terrible lines and plots they are giving him. I'm looking forward to the feature Major Gripe will be writing in the coming months. It's on our Coming Soon board and I have a feeling it will be a fave here. Smile
